The perfect smartphone. Thoughts in the course of life
I've been studying everything on myself the features of mobile technology and came to certain conclusions.
What personally would I like from a smartphone, what attracts me to certain new products in this market? What I’m looking for and can’t find yet.
Under the cut - a lot of letters, a couple of questions and not a single ready-made solution, only dreams. If you have anything to say about this - welcome. Let's dream together)))
I already found out for myself that many modern smartphones / communicators are not suitable for me. Some models were just tested for several days at work, some went for a while, and then sold. But he did not become a fan of any one platform.
For some reason, manufacturers believe that if they included a bunch of functions in the device, then their device should look solid, like a kind of brick, in extreme cases - a bar. Not all, but many communicators suffer from this. Of the devices I saw in recent years, I liked several models:
HTC S620 aka Excalibur

I-Mate smartflip aka HTC StarTack etc.

IPhone 2G

This, in fact, the list ends ...
It’s more complicated. It’s not that I didn’t like directly all the OSes, but none of the ones I saw completely suits me.
Windows, especially the SE version (Smartphone Edition), is terribly not convenient, there is no single place where you could find all the applications existing under the system. Requires ActiveSync to connect to a computer. Yes, I know that there is a site hpc.ru, where you can find a lot of software. But it is difficult to call this a centralized place. Yes, I know that there are stray devices that connect the device like a USB flash drive. But not for all software versions, and in this version the built-in modem does not work. About working with the device under Lin, I generally keep quiet.
IPhone OS at first glance does not suffer from all these shortcomings, but ... If there is a centralized location for downloading programs, special software is required for downloading, plus the inability to work with files without iTunes (specifically, with music, this is a phone player, right ?!), plus the “pleasant” IPhone habit of surfing the Internet for various reasons, without asking permission ...
It would seem that Symbian is the way out! Not an option. Read point 1 - over the past 4 years I have not liked a single smartphone. Even the 5800 was a compromise, with a number of complaints (the case is plastic, the side around the screen etc).
And point 2 - there is no centralized "repository" with programs, many have to search the authors' sites and find out their performance on a specific device "in their own skin."
Yes, many functions are not always good. I don’t need GPS at all - I don’t have a car, and somehow I'm not inclined to get lost in the city. There has never been a case when I could not get along with a regular map and the help of passers-by.
I absolutely do not need ashit player, like a shit camera - stupid stray on the phone, if done "so it was." After all, what happens - manufacturers “take” not quality, but quantity, asking for a lot of money for the latest bells and whistles, and then, after selling a batch of devices, they begin to finalize the software so that it does not buggy. Make you smaller, but better and more convenient for the same money - I will give it without hesitation.
I deliberately did not mention the G1 and Palm Pre with their Android and WebOS, respectively, because I did not have the opportunity to test them and because we officially do not have them yet.
The conclusions, it would seem, are obvious - to use separately a telephone, a player, a laptop and a camera.
But I want to dream the same !!!
And here is what I dreamed for myself:
It would be nice to sell 1-2-3 smartphones / communicators of different designs and functionalities, but ...
... with a basic set of functions in the “zero profile”.
That is, for example, the manufacturer releases a device with an OS and a number of applications that allow you to make calls, send SMS / mail and work on the Internet / use as a modem. Everything, the device costs, say 150-200 dollars. This is for the design, production and development of a competent OS.
Next, the manufacturer creates a repository and uploads “goodies” in it - programs that expand the functionality of the device. For example, an application with player functions, one more - a PCC reader, another one - readers and so on. Plus - third-party applications.
And each user already chooses how to "sharpen" the device for himself - whether to buy "additional functions" or use the fact that there are "sparks" for less cost, i.e. without overpaying for unnecessary functionality .
Those. such an ideal version of the iPhone, but without significant overpayment for marketing, PR, etc., and without stupid restrictions such as "music only from the iTunes store or only through a special synchronizer."
Vasya wants to make a phone call, play toys and listen to music - please, bought the “Bolvankofon” for 5000 rubles + bought a prog player and a couple of games. And Vanya sits on ICQ, on Twitter, drives a car and runs in the mornings - please: “Blank Card” + IM + cards + stopwatch / calorie counter.
If I don’t know something, and such a miracle device exists - hint, huh ?! )))
