February 16, 2009 at ARM Cortex processors are trying to break into the NetBook market!
It turns out that Intel Atom wants to compete not only with NVidia & VIA (see: “Nvidia has taken on the creation of an Intel-compatible processor!” ), But also ARM with its Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A9 MPCore processors - see: “Company ARM is ready to battle Intel at MWC 2009 ”

16-19 , 2009 in Barcelona, Spain] True, ARM has its own RISC architecture that is not compatible with the Intel x86 architecture used in Intel Atom processors, but this the architecture is the most popular on the smartphone market, and is also used in such popular devices as the Apple iPhone 3G & Apple iPod Touch.
It seems that ARM decided that their processors have grown to the NetBook market.
And they are to some extent right - if you put on the NetBook not MS Windows XP, but one of the varieties of Linux, for example:
1. The one Nokia puts on its Nokia N810 tablets (made by the way on ARMs) - Internet Tablet OS 2008 - aka Maemo Linux 4.0 ;
2. Or, install Google Android, which was originally developed for smartphones on ARM processors, but which can even work on NetBooks of the Intel x86 platform - see: “ Is Intel preparing to release Android netbooks?” ;
3.Well, or one of the versions of Linux (though it will have to be compiled for ARM processors) that comes with the cheapest NetBooks and preinstalled Linux from manufacturers such as Acer, MSI and Asus, the latter installs Xandros Linux - see: “Acquaintance with Asus Eee PC 701 (part 2): Xandros Linux " ;
4. Well, or the most unlikely - all of a sudden Apple wants to make its NetBook on an ARM processor and install its newfangled Apple OS X iPhone , which has already gained immense popularity on Apple iPhone 3G smartphones (which include an ARM processor).
That as a result, and on ARM processors, it’s possible it’s not the worst: in the sense of not slow and hot, and not bulky, and at the same time, it also plays NetBook for a long time on a single charge :)
