MI6 is gaining spies through Facebook
The British secret intelligence service MI-6 began to recruit agents on the social network Facebook . They hope that this experiment will help them find "new generation spies." What is meant by this is not entirely clear.
Perhaps, “spies 2.0” should feel like a fish in the water, working with social services on the Internet, directly rubbing their trust in valuable sources of information online. Or MI-6 wants to recruit users who already de facto have a certain “online authority” (for example, like LJ). It is very important for the special services that the agents represent the same stratum of society as the people with whom it is necessary to contact.
MI6 representatives commented that they actually use several open services to find new employees, including advertising in newspapers and on the radio, so Facebook is no exception.
