What else to add to Google Reader?
The release of GR from beta disappointed me. Of course, searching the subscription database, statistics and the option to hide the column with folders is without a doubt a pleasant thing. But the user, as before, is in the "box" of his own interests without any systemic function of communicating with his own kind and expanding his horizons. The Shared Items function in this sense is half measures. All that can be done is to send a long, scary link to a friend, with the words “Read what I picked”
So, I don’t know if Google’s representatives are reading Habré, but what else would I like ... (not for me alone?)
1. Matching system streams to identify users who read related topics or matching threads. Analogue of neighbors on LastFM.
2. The ability to directly subscribe to their Shared Items. And not only for everything, but also with the help of filters. Imagine how convenient it is when there is not enough time, to read not everything in a row, but the information already selected by an authoritative user for you.
3. Whiteboard for each user. There should be an opportunity to publicly thank the one who rakes a lot of rss for you.
