AOL Acquires Tacoda Advertising Company

    Time Warner, a division of AOL , announced Tuesday that it would acquire Tacoda . Tacoda is an online advertising company that uses behavioral targeting methods to track Internet user habits.

    Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. However, someone who knows the situation says that AOL paid Tacoda $ 275 million.

    Tacoda technologies allow advertisers to deliver messages to specific segments of the audience, selected by the type of sites that they visited.

    These technologies will be in great demand in the future. So, according to eMarketer, the market for behavioral targeted advertising will grow in 2011 to $ 3.8 billion from last year's mark equal to $ 350 million.
