Published the latest rating of the safest cities for life
The Economist Intelligence Unit , a company engaged in analytics and economic research, has presented its annual report, “ The safest cities for life .” Cities are compared by 40 different quantitative and qualitative indicators. In total, 50 cities of the world participate in the ranking, chosen because of their geographical and political importance and the availability of reliable statistics. Therefore, this rating is not comprehensive - a city that finds itself in 50th place is not the worst city to live in the world.

Africa is least urbanized - there this figure is still 40%. Most cities are growing in size, although there are exceptions - the capital of South Korea, Seoul, has decreased by almost a million people over the past 25 years. One of the interesting findings of the study: the most populated city in the world, Tokyo, is also the safest of all.

Moscow ranked 43rd in the ranking next to Istanbul, Delhi, Mumbai and Mexico City. Since all parameters and exact methods for their measurement are not presented in the report, it is difficult to judge how correct or politicized this result can be.
However, here is one of the indicators: in Moscow, according to the portal of legal statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the number of murders per 100,000 people in 2013 was 3.53. In New York, where a record low number of homicides has been recorded in recent years , the figure was 1.68.
