The court sentenced Ukrainian carder Mukha, who sent 1 g of heroin to Krebs and called the police

Karma still exists, and bad deeds do not go unpunished. The Ukrainian cybercriminal Sergey Vovnenko, known by the nicknames Fly (Fly), Flycracker and MUXACC1, the owner of the underground carder forum, received 41 months in prison . It was this guy who terrorized the famous journalist Brian Krebs several years ago. He tried to set Brian up when he mailed him 1 gram of heroin and called the police with a message about drug trafficking. Fortunately, Brian introduced himself in advance to the Russian-language forum and learned in advance about Sergey's plans, so he managed to warn the police.

Krebs already talked in detail about this story.. In the Russian-speaking cybercriminal world, Brian is fiercely hated for his investigations and docking of community members. In 2013, one of the haters under the nickname Fly began to send Krebs mocking tweets and links to malicious pages, probably trying to hook the Trojan onto his computer. In his LJ blog, Mucha also launched an active campaign, publishing copies of credit reports, Krebs' home address, a map of the area with his house, photos of the front door and other confidential details about the journalist.

Brian Krebs was not idle. He conducted his own investigation and, thanks to the specialists of the Russian company Group-IB, found out that Mukha is the administrator of the closed Russian-language card forum thecc.bz (now the forum does not work).

Secretly infiltrating the forum, Brown found a large discussion thread where Mucha asked his comrades to dump bitcoins on the purchase of heroin for Krebs. According to the plan, the carders were going to buy a gerych in the Silk Road store (now it’s not working) - and send it to the journalist’s home address. Immediately after this, it was planned to call the police, who were supposed to find the drug bag at Brian Krebs - and arrest him for possession or distribution of the drug (in general, for something).

Members of the forum carefully studied the assortment of heroin sellers at Silk Road and chose the most reliable seller with a good reputation.

The plan was partially successful. Carders really collected the required amount, then Mucha called the local police station and said that his “neighbor” is a drag dealer, drug addicts go to him every day, and drugs come to him even by mail.

But only Brian first went to the police and said that Mukha and his Ukrainian friends were plotting against him, so that soon they would send him a parcel by mail and call the police. As expected, soon the goods arrived in the form of a glossy magazine with glued packages on the cover of the magazine with advertising. Brian immediately called the police, and the officers were convinced that the packages were almost pure heroin.

The fly did not rest on this, and soon sent a funeral decoration in the form of a cross with a funeral card to the doors of Brian Krebs .

Probably bought it on someone else's credit card.

After this story, Brian Krebs was extremely interested in the identity of the Flies. The guys from Group-IB helped him by finding out the mail address mazafaka@libero.it , which Fly spotted on one of the sites. In 2013, this mailbox was hacked by someone, there they found a bunch of logs from keyloggers and a link to another email address 777flyck777@gmail.com. Of course, all addresses were anonymous, but it turned out that Mucha installed a keylogger, including on her bride’s computer, Irina Gumenyuk. Soon, Irina changed her surname to Vovnenko on social networks - and so Brian Krebs came to the identity of a hacker who terrorized him. It turned out to be 28-year-old Sergey Vovnenko, who lived with his wife and young son in the Italian city of Naples.

Brian Krebs handed over all the collected information about the attacker to law enforcement agencies, and soon Italian special forces visited the apartment of the Ukrainian family.

For about 15 months, Mucha was awaiting extradition at the Poggioreale Jail prison, which is called the worst in Italy . There he repented and even sent Brian greeting cards for the New Year.

At the end of koontsov, Vovnenko nevertheless extradited to the US, and February 16, 2017 the judge of New Jersey sentenced him to 41 months in prison (about as he had already served), three years of stay under the supervision and damages in the amount of $ 83 368.

The penalty for Vovnenko is not associated with hooligan actions against a journalist, but is related to his other carder crimes. By American standards, it can be called quite soft. Moreover, the carder, apparently, was released right in the courtroom. Perhaps this story will teach Sergei a more responsible attitude to his life - and more he will not make such mistakes.

Well, in general, everyone else should keep in mind that jokes are bad with Brian Krebs.
