Startup Village-2015 in Skolkovo - how it was
Posted by Lyudmila Dmitrieva
On June 2-3, Skolkovo hosted the Startup Village-2015 Forum, which was attended by companies that have their own innovative projects and want to talk about them. The forum was attended by both Russian and foreign companies.
Lately they have been talking and writing a lot about Skolkovo. Therefore, it was especially interesting to see it all with my own eyes and personally take part in this grand event.
As usual, at the entrance to Skolkovo a 2-3-kilometer traffic jam formed. Given that there is continuous construction around, the road to the end is not completed, such a traffic jam is a completely normal phenomenon. But at the registration someone was lucky, but the queues were quite large, and those who arrived a little later (due to the same traffic jam) stood in the queue for registration for about an hour.
When you finally find yourself inside, you get the feeling that you are in a completely different world. Participants
who use various types of transport walk slowly along the streets .
It can be seen that the completion of all construction work is still far away.
The stands were located directly in the open air,
some near the lake,
where people could even take a boat at the boat station or just relax on the shore.
All the meeting rooms were also located on the street under high awnings.
So - the official opening. Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation,
and Viktor Vekselberg, President of the Skolkovo Foundation, spoke at it .
The main idea of their performance was that a city called Skolkovo would be built, and we would all be proud of it. A lot has been done over the past few years. And now everyone understands that we can compete and produce innovative ideas and products. The five-year history of the development of Skolkovo confirms this.
In conclusion, Viktor Vekselberg added that all those present at the Forum are so far divided into two groups: there are owners who work in these buildings, and there are guests who came here. I'd like most of the guests who arrived next year to become owners. And contrary to all unbelievers, a real city will appear here that will live and create.
The television crew present at the Forum seemed to be everywhere.
Because of the size of their technique, they never walked one at a time - only in a group.
The Forum had something to shoot.
The emotional speeches of the speakers were sometimes simply exciting.
Various equipment was exhibited at the stands.
Demonstrated samples of 3D printing of paintings.
You could immerse yourself in virtual reality,
and airplanes constantly flew in the sky.
SAP demonstrated its solution for football analytics,
which was actively used by the German team, who won the recent World Cup,
as well as the achievement in the field of Internet things - a “smart” vending machine.
On the site dedicated to robotics, one could chat live with robots who gladly supported any conversation, sang songs, told jokes, offered to take a walk, and some even retire.
With them it was possible to play real wooden chess, and not some virtual chess.
Next to the robots, they played real, not virtual football.
This KAMAZ participated in a huge number of international competitions,
its pilot gladly shared his impressions and invited everyone to
sit inside the cockpit.
At this time, the Forum participants worked hard.
On the second day, the first graduates of the Skolkovo University were congratulated on the main stage.
Among those who participated in the congratulation was Dmitry Medvedev.
Other guests were also present.
In addition, various discussions were constantly held at the Forum in numerous halls -
"Do Startups Need Big Corporations",
"Internet of Things: Myths and Reality"
and others.
At the end of the Forum, the finalists of the start-up competition performed on the main stage,
judged by a strict jury,
and then awarded the winners.
About the most interesting discussions that took place at the Forum, read in the following posts.
