YouTube remains the most popular video hosting; Facebook is losing ground
Last month, YouTube video hosting secured the title of the most popular video hosting service, at least among Americans. At the same time, Facebook has become less popular among users who prefer to watch videos and share them with their friends. Nielsen Analytical Agency presented these and other results in its next report, “Top US Online Destinations for Video”.
In general, there is no big surprise that YouTube remains the most popular video platform. However, the second and third places were taken by VEVO and Yahoo !, and this is not so predictable. After all, only recently Facebook was very popular among fans of watching videos in online mode. Now the brainchild of Zuckerberg takes only fourth place, losing third place to Yahoo Corporation.
It is logical that having lost part of the visitors who want to watch the video, Facebook has lost several steps in the position of one of the leaders in terms of the number of video streams delivered. By this indicator, Facebook is no longer even in the top ten. At the same time, YouTube is in first place in this position.
Despite the fact that Facebook is losing ground as a video platform, the social functions of this resource remain extremely popular. Zuckerberg’s social network now has 800 million users, and their number continues to grow. So a slight decline in Facebook’s popularity among online video enthusiasts means nothing. It’s too early to talk about the “beginning of the end” of the world's most popular social network.
