Google's App Store for the Web is a replica of Apple's App Store

The post is a translation of this note.

In October this year, Google is going to launch its Chrome Web Store, which will allow users to buy premium web-applications (and developers will provide a convenient way to sell their developments). To be sure that users will be most comfortable using the new service, Google developers draw inspiration from their best counterparts. But it’s best to call it “as if it were tracing paper”: the new Google service looks exactly like Apple's App Store.

The photo above, which was taken by 1up.com correspondentduring one of the last gaming conferences, shows how much some interface elements are very similar: colored panels with recommended applications on top, thumbnails of logos below, the most popular applications on the panel on the right. The only noticeable differences are the navigation bar on the left and the screaming headers of 'top rated' and 'hot games', as well as the page for viewing a specific application:

On the other hand, copying under tracing paper is a wise decision by specialists from Google. The Chrome Web Store will only flourish if a lot of people buy games and applications in it, and Google just gives people something that they are familiar with.
